Events

Events are a specialized content type for anything that happens at a specific time and place. Use Events for conferences, webinars, workshops, meetups, office hours, product demos, and similar occurrences. Unlike blog posts, Events have structured date and location fields that appear in event listing pages and calendar views.

Event List

The main Events view shows all events across your sites. You can filter by upcoming or past, by site, and by status.

Key fields shown in the list:

  • Title: The event name.
  • Site: Which site this event belongs to.
  • Start date / time: When the event begins.
  • End date / time: When the event ends.
  • Location: The venue or virtual platform.
  • Status: Draft, Under Review, Scheduled, Published, or Archived.

Filtering and search:

  • Filter by site, status, date range (upcoming/past), or event type.
  • Search by title or location.
  • Sort by start date, title, or status.

Creating Events

Click New Event to create a new event.

Required fields:

  • Title: The event name.
  • Site: Which site this event belongs to.
  • Start date/time: When the event begins.

Optional fields:

  • End date/time: When the event ends. Shown in the event detail and calendar.
  • Timezone: The timezone for the event start/end times.
  • Location: Venue name and address for in-person events.
  • Virtual link: URL for online events (webinar, Zoom, etc.).
  • Registration URL: Where visitors can register or buy tickets.
  • Capacity: Maximum attendance (shown on the event detail page).
  • Featured image: Event banner or poster.
  • Short description: Summary shown in event cards.
  • Body content: Full event description with rich text.
  • Categories / tags: Organizational groupings.
  • SEO fields: Meta title, meta description, OpenGraph image.

Event Types

Use categories or tags to organize events by type:

  • In-person: Physical venue with address.
  • Virtual: Online-only with a meeting link.
  • Hybrid: Both in-person and virtual attendance options.

There is no hard event-type field — use categories or tags to define your own taxonomy.

Past Events

Events with a start date in the past are automatically sorted to the bottom of the default view. You can filter to show only past events if needed.

Tips:

  • Do not archive past events immediately. They often still receive organic search traffic.
  • Add a recording link or summary to past events to keep them valuable after the date passes.
  • Archive past events after 6–12 months if they are no longer driving traffic.

Calendar View

All events across all sites appear in the Editorial Calendar. This gives you a monthly overview of scheduled and published events alongside other content types. See the Calendar documentation for details.
